External Exchange and Cooperation

The college attaches great importance to international exchange and cooperation, and has established cooperation with famous foreign universities such as The University of Kitakyushu, Korea Maritime & Ocean University and Kwangwoon University through student exchange abroad, hosting international academic conferences and attending international academic meetings. Since 2019, we have sent 116 students to Japan, South Korea and other famous universities for study and exchange, while inviting many famous experts from the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Afghanistan to give lectures, hosting international conferences 9 times, and many teachers and students have participated in international academic conferences, opening up the international visibility of various disciplines in the college.

We sent a number of undergraduate and graduate students to conduct exchange activities outside of China through collaborative research projects, joint design work camps, etc. From 2019 to 2022, we collaborated with The University of Kitakyushu on the China-Japan Youth Science and Technology Exchange Program, the Student Exchange Research Program, and the International Conference and Work Camp Program on Low Carbon Design in Asia; in 2019, together with Kwangun University and Cheju Halla University participated in the 9th EAAF China-Korea Joint Design Camp; 2019 participated in the "2019 China-Korea Architecture School Design Workshop" co-organized by the Chinese Institute of Architecture and the Korean Council for Assessment of Architectural Education and others; 2019 co-organized with the School of Energy, Earth Sciences, Infrastructure and Society, Heriot-Watt University Joint Design Work Camp, which creates new opportunities for our outstanding faculty and students to visit and collaborate on research at partner schools.

Innovation Institute for Sustationable Maritime Architecture Research and Technology as an international, cross-regional, cross-field academic cooperation and sharing platform, with Professor Weijun Gao, an academician of the Japanese Academy of Engineering, as the chief scientist of the center, and Professor Xingtian Wang, one of China's top 100 architectural design masters, successfully joined the center to create the Creative Qingdao Architectural Design Center in 2019. Since its establishment, with the tenet of making every effort to bring in high-caliber talents, holding high-impact international conferences and work camps, conducting high-level academic lectures and establishing high-level academic alliances, and making unremitting efforts to promote the long-term development of marine architecture discipline and build a wise and livable green coastal living environment, the Center has held three iSMART international conferences, the 26th Contemporary Chinese Architecture Forum Preparatory Meeting and High-end Academic Conference, the WACA 2021 Annual Conference, the 18th Asian Urban Environment Society International Symposium and Academic Publication, the 4th Chinese Oral History Society Symposium and Workshop, the 4th International Work Camp of Robot Construction, the 2019 Taishan Academic Forum and Qingdao University of Technology Academician Forum and other international conferences, which greatly improved the international academic influence of the university.
